Working at the Intersection of Marine Science and International Environmental Policy

Vasco Chavez-Molina is an environmental scientist from Lima, Peru, with a decade of experience in international conservation, environmental policy, and natural resource governance. His work spans ecosystems, regions, and governance frameworks, with a particular focus on advancing conservation through United Nations processes and international agreements. From the Amazon rainforest and East Africa to the high seas, Vasco has contributed to research, policy, and conservation initiatives aimed at strengthening biodiversity protection and sustainable resource management. Vasco holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder. He currently serves as Manager of the High Seas Program at Conservation International and is an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Governance.
